Our neighbour gave us some Brambly apples and nana thought of doing this, now I’m not a big fan of apple pies and stuff like that (too tart for my taste) but this was surprisingly nice even Abbie said it was ok.
Ingredients

- 4 large Bramley cooking apples
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 pinches ground cinnamon
- 115g cold unsalted butter
- 225g plain flour
- 140 g castor sugar
- 175g castor sugar
- 25g porridge oats
Method
- pre heat the oven to gas 6 400f
- Peel and core the apples then cut into medium chunks
- heat the oil in a pan, ad the lemon juice ,175 g castor sugar ,cinnamon and the chopped apples cook for around 5 minutes
- tip into a large baking dish. place the cold butter and flour in a bowl and kneed until it looks like bread crumbs
- tip into a bowl and stir 140 g castor sugar carefully. Distribute evenly on top of the apple mixture and sprinkle the oats
- bake for 30-40 minutes and serve with custard or ice cream
