It was recently 2 of my cousins birthdays and a baked a cake for them, I wasn’t at first because I already have recipes for chocolate cake on here. But because this could also be a review for my new piping set, my nan made m- I voluntarily decided to do it.
You will need:
- 200g Softened butter
- 200g Caster sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 200g Plain flour
- 2tbsp Cocoa powder
- 1tsp Baking powder
- 1/2tsp Vanilla extract
- 2tbsp Milk
For the butter cream:
- 100g milk chocolate, melted
- 200g Spreadable butter
- 400g Icing sugar
- 1-2tbsp Cocoa powder
- 2tbsp Milk
Method:
1. Cream the butter and sugar together, then add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
2. Grease 2 loose bottomed cake tins, pre heat to gas mark 5/ 190*C/ 375*F. Plop the mixture in each of them, equally. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until just golden browned.
3. For the butter cream, mash together the icing sugar and butter with a fork. Mix in the rest of the ingredients with an electric mixer (it’s harder by hand). Load into your piping bag and you’re ready to go. Review in a separate post.
As there was a small amount of cake mixture leftover I decided to make some small cakes as well. As you can see in the photo I utilised an old egg box which fitted the cakes in perfectly
