My sister made this last week, she did the baking and I did the writing. We got this recipe from a good house keeping book which was printed in 1958. We were looking for a recipe for over-ripe bananas. In the ones that Abbie made, there wasn’t much of a chocolate taste so I recommend you add double the amount. They look more like biscuits than drops but that’s possibly because she used soft margarine instead of butter.
- 320g flour
- 1.5 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp bicarb of soda
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 90g butter
- 230g sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1-2 tsp vanilla extract
- 50g melted chocolate
- 5 mashed bananas
- Line a baking tray with grease proof paper, pre heat the oven to gas mark 7, 210 *c ,425 *f
- Mix the flour, baking powder, bicarb, and salt together.
- Then, in a large separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar.
- Once creamed add the eggs and vanilla extract.
- Next beat in the chocolate into the mix.
- Then, alternate between mixing in the flour mixture and bananas into the other mixture.
- Plop heaped teaspoons on the baking tray about 1.5″ apart then put in the oven for 10 – 12 min at the top of the oven.
